Lavender Lady Love
What A Character!

personality.jpg

Agnes Moorehead played the glamourous, sophisticated witch Endora on Bewitched, where she gave the word "witch" a new meaning... Yes, sometimes she was a not so good witch, WITHOUT the pointed hats, pointed noses, etc. etc. But was she an evil witch to mortals in general, or to just Darrin? In fact, chances are she was really a good, lovely witch just amusing herself at the expense of a male chauvanist.

As for her family, she had a brother named Arthur who she despised! She couldn't stand one of his practical jokes though Endora, herself, could stand all of her jokes on Darrin! Her on again, off again husband, the charming Maurice was her love interest, though Endora could be charmed by almost any compliment. Maurice was tollerable and had his moments but they did share something special...Samantha.

Samantha, Endora's pride and joy. They did everything together... but the worst thing Endora thought could happen happened... Samantha got married. Now Darrin never really had any chance before Endora even met Darrin she disliked him, even for the little while she thought he was a male witch. So was the arguing unfair? Nonsense! It was perfectly obvious to anyone, mother or not, that Samantha was far too good for Derweed (or anyone else)!

Darrin had taken Endora's pride and joy and she couldn't accept it. She wanted Sam for her own. But no amount of spells could have kept Sam and Darrin apart. Not only did Endora give new meaning to the word "witch", she gave new meaning to the word "mother-in-law". But we all know Endora really likes Darrin...for the most part.

Now what went on before 1964 and after 1972, we aren't sure what went on with Endora but we could tell that Endora lived through alot of the historical periods and enjoys telling about them. Endora is 5'6" and is 118 pounds. Fave thing to do: Put the latest spell on Darrin! But how old was this "lovely, bad witch"? Several episodes throughout the series have brought this question up... But there is NO definate answer.

In Which Witch is Which, Endora announces she knew Helen of Troy which dates back to 1180 BC. She also makes references in several other episodes knowing historical figures such as Digenes (400 BC), Julius Ceasar, she was the cook for Claudius, Atilla the Hun, and Serena once announced that Endora "admitts to a 1000". Now there are several more episodes that over right this, A Nice Little Dinner Party has Endora admitting she was born in Salem after 1620, there is even more! She wasn't born at the time of King Henry VIII, she went to Shakespear's plays as a girl, and she admits to being a child bride in the 17th century twice!
